9/15/26: A Conversation with Barry Dana, former Chief of the Penobscot Nation

The Farmington Public Library welcomes community members of all ages to a conversation with Barry Dana about Wabanaki history and culture. Dana grew up on Indian Island in the Penobscot River and spent his youth learning from his tribal elders. An educator, canoe maker, athlete, gardener of ancient seeds, and former chief of the Penobscot Nation, he has a unique perspective on Wabanaki culture, both pre- and post-contact. During this event, Dana will use a Q&A format to engage the audience in an open-ended conversation on a variety of topics. This event is supported by the Revolutionary Maine Commemoration Grant, awarded by the Maine State Library, and will take place in the Emery Community Arts Center performance space.
